What better way to celebrate the abundance
of fresh fruit and vegetables that are grown
here in the Rio Grande Valley than to visit our
Pharrmers Market each Thursday from 10am to
1pm at the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley?
The Food Bank RGV is much more than a
charitable organization committed to feed hungry
families here in the South Texas, it also has
a mission to educate our community on how to
eat healthier. One way is through our Community
Garden and Pharrmers Market.
The Pharrmers Market is a weekly farmers
market featuring chemical-free fruits, vegetables,
herbs and baked/prepared goods. Other
vendors also sell handcrafted items that you just
can't find anywhere else!
The market sells produce grown at the Food
Bank RGV's community garden with gems
ranging from carrots and kale to beets and
strawberries.
Even clients who take gardening classes can
sell their yield at the market in order to learn
business skills and find economic self-sufficiency.
Other classes include gardening for seniors
and veterans.
There is almost too much to tell in one column
when it comes to the benefits of eating
fresh, chemical-free fruits and vegetables ...
you really have to come and taste for yourself!
The Pharrmers Market is located in the front
parking lot of the old Valley Fruit Company,
724 N. Cage Blvd., Pharr, Texas.
We accept SNAP and WIC vouchers.
