Welcome to The Magic Valley!
"A Land of Two Summers"

Plan your Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall Vacation Getaway to the Tropics of South Texas in the Rio Grande Valley.

Deciding when to take your Texas Rio Grande Valley Vacation depends on your specific interests. With a tropical climate all year 'round, the RGV is the perfect vacation destination any time of the year.

WINTER:
Thousands of visitors come to the Rio Grande Valley in the winter time. The RGV is the perfect place to escape from ice, snow and frigid temperatures found in the northern US and Canada. Many of these winter visitors stay from several weeks to six months or more in the many campgrounds, RV Resorts, Mobile Home Communities and Extended Stay Hotels located here in the RGV. In some parts of the US Sunbelt, winter visitors are called "snowbirds" and are often treated as nuisances. Not so here in the Magic Valley! Here in the Rio Grande Valley we welcome our winter visitors as "WINTER TEXANS" and show our appreciation for their contributions to our world by hosting festivals and parties welcoming them each year.

Winter is also a great time to visit the Valley for a short term vacation. Here you can play golf, go fishing, enjoy nature and birding all while the upper US and Canada are digging out from snowfalls and scraping ice from their windshields.
SPRING:
Spring time in the Rio Grande Valley is perfect Beach Time! Every year thousands of college students make their way down to South Padre Island to celebrate Spring Break. By this time the gulf waters have warmed up enough to enjoy swimming, kite boarding, snorkeling, wave-running, para-sailing and many other water sports. The nights come alive with LIVE MUSIC, Dancing and parties from one end of the island to the other.

In other parts of the Rio Grande Valley, spring time is a wonderful time for birding and exploring nature. There are many wildlife refuges, butterfly parks and birding hotspots to explore. See a Map of these locations

SUMMER:
Summer time is Family Time in the Rio Grande Valley. Come and enjoy the beaches and water sports on South Padre Island. Visit our World Class zoo. Explore the rich cultural and historical heritage of the valley by visiting our museums (See a Map of Museum locations).

Have dinner in one of our first class restaurants. Celebrate the fourth of July by attending one of many fantastic parades, festivals and fireworks displays. Take a day trip into Old Mexico.

Summer is a great time for fishing in the Laguna Madre. The Speckled Trout and Red Fish are especially active during the hot summer months when the water temperature has risen. Off shore fishing is also very productive during this time.

FALL:
In addition to all of the above, the Fall season in the Rio Grande Valley is the prime time to visit the many Butterfly parks in the region. Many of the species that are resident in the Valley are essentially tropical and are rarely, if ever, found in other areas of the United States. In addition, there is always the possibility of sighting one of the rare strays from Mexico.

No matter what season you plan your South Texas Vacation for you are sure to find everything you want to make your stay in the Valley a rich and rewarding experience.
